When Ken came to Ability Specialists, he was a high school student with anger-management issues, low self-esteem and feeling like he didn't belong. Through Ability Specialists programs, Ken developed strong friendships and a sense of community. After high school, with coaching from Ability Specialists, Ken completed auto mechanic school with a B average, appropriate behavior and perfect attendance. Ken currently attends Work Crew to improve his overall job skills so that he can maintain consistent, long-term employment.
"My name is Ken. I have been with Ability Specialists since day one. Over the years, they have helped me improve my social skills and be more connected to others. If not for Ability Specialists, I would still be a guy who kept to himself, but instead I participate in the Work Crew where I volunteer at University of Colorado Hospital and learn new job skills.
In the near future, I hope to get a car of my own. I also want to get a good-paying job so I can prove to myself and to everyone else that I can show up on a regular basis and on time."- Ken G., Ability Specialists Work Crew Participant

The Ability Specialists Work Crew supports participants who want to work but struggle with the decision-making and social skills required by employment. We volunteer at the University of Colorado Hospital, working individually and in groups. The program educates participants through mentoring, role-modeling and the development of comprehensive behavior modification plans.
