Iron Spirits: Andy Prince and Manju Stein Conquer the Platform in Greeley

The energy was electric at the Special Olympics Colorado Regional Meet in Greeley. Amidst a chorus of cheers, the clanging of iron, and an atmosphere of pure euphoria, two of our very own from Ability Specialists demonstrated what weeks of grueling preparation and unyielding determination can achieve.

Champions of Preparation

For weeks leading up to the competition, Andy Prince and Manju Stein have been relentless in their training. Under the watchful eye and expert guidance of their coach and job coach, Mario Ruiz, they didn't just practice lifting weights; they practiced persistence. This dedication was on full display as they stepped onto the platform, supported by a fantastic community of volunteers and fellow coaches who kept the energy high throughout the day.

Dominating the Platform

The results of their hard work were nothing short of spectacular. Both athletes delivered standout performances that secured them the top spot on the podium:

• Andy Prince took 1st Place in the Male Master Overall division. Andy showcased incredible strength with a 225 lb squat, a 120 lb bench press, and a massive 295 lb deadlift, culminating in a total of 640 lbs.

• Manju Stein also earned 1st Place, competing in the Male Senior Overall division. Manju’s technique was flawless, successfully clearing a 135 lb squat, a 65 lb bench press, and a 205 lb deadlift, for a combined total of 405 lbs.

More Than Just a Competition

While the gold medals are a point of immense pride, the true victory was the spirit Andy and Manju brought to the event. Their journey reminds us that with the right support and a "never quit" attitude, no weight is too heavy to lift.

We are incredibly proud of Andy, Manju, and the leadership of Mario Ruiz. They have shown us all that at Ability Specialists, our strength comes from our community and our shared commitment to excellence.

Congratulations to our champions!
